Big up to Rosh Hashanah. I started my 4 day vacation yesterday. Tried a new experiment today. Went grocery shopping today and decided to try something different. As most people know, what you eat is determines your mood, weight, health, etc...I have been fortunate not to "count calories" or ration my portions, and have excellent genes and metabolism. But recently I have been trying to look closer at what I eat! Ha Ha. Let me explain....I had lunch at a Chinese restaurant a week ago with my 42 year old friend. I ordered the Sesame chicken w/white rice while he ordered some roast pork but SPECIFICALLY asked for no rice.
Me: "What are you on a no-Carb diet or something?"
Him: "Nah, just cut down on my carb intake. I still eat what I like, just more protein."
Me: "Does it work?"
Him: "It's great. You see the differences right away. I hardly have to work out at all!"
* and here you thought only chicks talked about their diets!
.
So I'm trying it out. Not going nuts at all, but here's some stuff I got today:
Whole wheat bread instead of white Reduced fat vs.. fat [I guess?]
This one was the hardest...less BACON!!!
I actually tried the Veggie sausages today....Not as bad as I thought... Ha Ha. I'll keep you all updated how long this lasts! Don't get me wrong, I'll eat a Cheesburger Deluxe on the fly, but I need a mix, I guess...

I've been doing the low-carb thing for about half a year now and it works, but I've also been exercising regularly so it could be that too. I lost 10+ lbs. and am back to my average weight. It feels really good and I did it without eating eggs, bacon, and steak. Instead of sugar, try splenda (it's really good). If you like the veggie sausage, try veggie burgers and chicken patties (I like Boca's Spicy Chicken). Use low-fat mayo (tastes just like regular). Instead of rice or bread as a side, eat a side of grilled veggies or large salad. Of course whole wheat/grains are good but you can go the extra step and get low calorie/carb wheat bread too. And once in a while, have yourself a fat juicy steak! Cuz you deserve it. Eat lots of fruit (berries have loads of vitamins) and vegetables (cauliflower, broccoli, spinach, zucchini, squash, etc). Drink lots of water (juice and soda are loaded with way more sugar than anyone needs) and when you can [afford to], go organic!
I did it again huh? Well, hope all goes well with the kids! Take care. And if you find any good low fat, calorie, or carb foods that you'd recommend, let me know!
dude... to me.. i think the key is to just cut intake on some things and increase on others...
reduced fat/lowfat/nonfat is nasty shit.. u dont wanna do that to urself.. plus the fat substitutes they use in those foods is really bad for your body because its indigestable... im being serious...
so yar... instead of eating 10 reduced fat triscuits... just eat 7 regular ones... or something like that... and yarrr get it?
but ur such a total fatass felix.. u need to diet on the reals yo... hahahahha
WHOA ! Wheat bread !? Gross ! That is one thing I can't live with ! Keep us updated with your experiment. Say Hi for me to Beyonce....I heard she is in NYC right now ! LOL
keep on eating.
doughnut...mmmmm.....yummm....
i think you have the right mindset - mix it up! too much of one thing (protein) or not enough of another (carbs) may mess you up. exercise is key! healthy mind, healthy body.
mmm! morning star is great!! {drool} lol... take it easy! enjoy the rest of the mini break!

*sigh* 4 day vacation and your not even jewish. Psh!
It's cool to see you take awareness of what you eat. Shows responsibility! THANK THE JEWISH PEOPLE, FELIX. THANK THEM LOTS FOR YOUR DAYS OFF!
I miss the HS day offs, but then again we get off mad early... MAY 2nd
um in the long run, sounds good. not just for your weight but health wise too. like cholesterol and sugar level those changes make sense. need the nutrients for aging too. all this info is beaten into me over and over throughout the years. this is what i get for having a mom as a nurse and family full of nurses and doctors, the health advice giving never stops. sigh. hahaha.

how could you do that to your body... you need some of that stuff in your diet... it's necessary. That's what i'm learning in my nutrition and disease class... and no i don't have tons of friends... if i did i probably wouldn't be online 24/7 and more people would comment... but it's always the select few... the true fans of my "work" haha! Hope the "diet" works out!
my friend works out everyday and tries to eat healthy all the time and usually comments on whats healthy to eat and what isnt when we (or him and his other friends) eat together. it gets pretty annoying. one day he called me and asked me what i had for lunch...it just so happened that was the day i had a chili cheese burger, chili cheese fries, and a large pepsi from tommy's (a fast food joint in LA that has REALLY good chili). i snapped at him even before he could tell me "you know...thats not really healthy for you. do you know whats IN that?!"
HAM - that's awesome! Does that make me a HAF?
Absolutely, Flex 9. If anyone is comparing asian males to white males, then asian males def have the right to complain. But what's weird is that most of the comparing (and subsequent complaining) seems to stem from asian males, themselves. At least, that's what most of us (non-asian males) keep hearing/reading.
This is not a topic that most asian females or any other non-asian male has ever brought up into conversation (that I know of). As friends and sisters, we are trying to understand why some people feel this way, but when we make these attempts, we receive replies in anger. No way to talk, so no way to understand. What can we do?
haha the low carb thing is hard. but hey, everyone's going atkins crazy. i don't know if they have a "ruby tuesday" in ny but RT caters to low carb ppl. i think almost everything on the menu is atkins-friendly. even our flavored lemonade is low carb! also, the deserts are awesome..try the low carb lava cake. i know all this..because i worked there
> anyway, topanga is COOL! LEAVE HER ALONE.

good on ya for trying to eat healthier!
TOFU is the way to go, by the way. MMMM! Have you ever had real soft warm tofu with a dark sugar syrup? I ordered that at a dim sum place recently and it was YUMMMM!
