Another college trip. What fun.
. No, but seriously. I am tired. Chaperoning 43 kids is exhausting. Even though I got 2 days off of school, I still was responsible for ALL 43. Talk about pressure.
. The main difference is I don't get to leave them at 3 pm. I stay with them all day and all night long. My duties include:
- Making sure everyone is accounted for when they get on and off the bus.
- Making sure I communicate with the bus driver what time we need him to pick us up and where.
- Provide itineraries for the trip and leisure activities when we get to the hotel.
- Make curfews, rules and room checks.
- Travel all the way back to the college we just visited since someone left their cellphone at the college's library.
- Look for pillows and blankets for some of the kids who were missing some.
- Making decisions where to eat and trying to satisfy everyone.
- Giving room assignments.
- Making sure they clean up after their mess on the bus.
- Making sure they're not having pillow fights in the hallway, foodfights in the cafeterias, and orgies in their rooms!
- Keeping them awake when there is a financial aid speaker and keeping their attention during a campus tour.
Sorry...I started to rant. Stop me when I do that. I had fun though. We saw Cornell University and Ithaca College on Monday and Syracuse on Tuesday. Here are some pics...
* Ha Ha. My cousin, Rachel, goes to Law school at Cornell and my uncle and aunt were there to visit her. I met up with them for like 5 minutes on our tour and my aunt wanted Rachel to take a picture of them with my camera!
. (I'll send you this pic, C-Wing!)
* This was of Ithaca College. Not nearly as nice or pretty as Cornell (hence the lack of photos) but the students were the friendliest and the food was good! I thought it was funny that there was a dorm building called the HOOD.This photo of a building in Syracuse was designed by the designers of the Addams Family house. Oooo scary!
Exhausted though. Glad to see them go... I mean on the trip that is
. Highlight of the trip? I bowled a 136 and 146. I think those were the 2 best bowling scores I ever had! Must be something in the Ithaca air...

scary photo of syracuse but also cool. thanks for the encouragement. you've got lots of responsibilities, huh? rock on, dude.
Sounds like you've got the stuff down to be a good dad. Unless your kids run you over like most do!
Oooh...the roadtrips/vacations those will be.
werd...cornell is definitely pretty....was it cold when you went? I was there 2 and 3 weekends ago. I prolly still visit like 4 times a semester...crazy. Chaperoning is a pain in the arse!
Was that "Bumper Bowling" you played (where they fill up the gutter so the bowling ball can't go in)? Sounds exhausting with the kids! "Trying to satisfy everyone" - satisfying 43 kids?! How in the world did you do that? Slip valium into their food?
man, i suck at bowling.. i don't think i've ever gotten a score that high. wow, i have a friend that goes to Syracuse that's cool. you guys should take tours of the schools over here on the west coast! we're good too!
hmm...another college trip, reminds me of the good old days or junior yr..my teacher made the trips on weekends, and it was non-stop college after college, basically like having class one after another, tired stuff...and yea I was one of the ppl that fell asleep during presentations..tho the highlight of my trip was staying in the hotel with my friends and running around the campuses trying to locate the bookstores so I can get my hands on some college souvenirs..t-shirts and banners...maybe you can help me add to my collection of college banners..haha
i remember those days lol
nice photos. lol. you seem like a good chaperone. lol, my old hs would never let us go on over night trips, they could never find a willing chaperone. lol. too bad you weren't at my high school an year ago. lol. actually probably good for you though, i think my school had kids harder to maintain. lol.
yea man i cant wait!!!! i want to go back to nyc again!!
c u seen bury.
YOU'RE SUCH A FLAKE!
i actually had time to see you and you blew me off! i hate you

aaaww...it looks nice and cold up there! we're dealing with a measly 68 degrees down here =T
my most embarrassing moment happened with a college tour: one day, during my senior year, i was walking around campus after eating lunch. all of a sudden i began to feel really dizzy and felt like i had to puke. at the same moment, a group of 50 high schoolers on their campus tour were walking towards me and the group leader pointed in my direction getting ready to talk about the building that i was standing in front of. well just as the group turned to face me, i let the big hurl out...and kept going and going. so...yea...they had to skip that part of the tour!!! and i ran all the way home!!
high school teacher huh? i can imagine all the screeching you must endure daily. or maybe you screech and cause a ruckus along with them =)
that hella funny that Ithaca has a dorm building named "Hood"
man I remember when I was in HS they never took us on college tours. And to think my old HS is a "college preparatory" school
I hope you had help chaperoning...I am sure the school did not leave you with 43 kids alone but I feel ya about being tired out. Kids will do that to ya !
Have you ever been up for Teacher of the Year?
Like I said... you're a mensch.
ah gonggggggggggggg!!
haaha college trips... sounds like youre having loads of fun... dude... its like youre a parent in the training... keeping head counts and making sure everyone has their snacks... ROFL :X
haha sounds like a normal day for some
i bowled an 80 once. i was quite proud.
YAY ITHACA!
My best friend in the whole, wide world goes there
I, on the other hand, have never actually been there, but I can still support, right?
-T-

-jamin
omg...i'm still stuck on the pics of the thanksgiving feast yer mom threw down. how can i get an invite NEXT year?
cherilyn
Those 11th graders are crazy! Good job though, they managed to stay in one piece. Physically.
Overall, nice Xanga. Colors give it "a happy, happy, joy joy" kinda look. Much better than those dull, depressing Xangas.
Anyway, hope you had fun. Hope it was as good as the (sorry if this offends anyone) Asian bonding experience on the bus from Binghamton to home!
Anyway, I'm out.
Peace, love, and.........enlightenment.
-The "subtle" one.
aww gutted
Noone wants to be the spoil sport who breaks up a good ol'fashioned pillow fight.
Alix
HAHAHAHA "the hood" . funny!
or maybe that after a couple of days of being responsible for 43 kids, bowling a 143 comes as childsplay...
(oooh I am so corny!)
damn you're a sexy one aren't you!
ooh i considered going to syracuse...but meh i got into their management and not their comm and i didn't feel liek going out to the middle of nowhere just to study management...i might as well do it up here in montreal
Hi felix! It's Rachel =)
