STRIKE!!
That's right. Those crazy MTA Transit workers are at it again. But its been 2 days now...Jeez. The teachers have been gone 2 years w/out a contract and we never struck. Guess we're soft.
Bad News about the strike
:
- Man is it hard to get home at night w/out a ride.
- Cost almost $20 a person to take a cab a few blocks.
- hard to catch a cab.
- L.A. traffic up in herrrre. Except thre only 3 lanes as opposed to 5 or 6!
Good News about the strike
:
- Get a ride to school. Nice and cozy ride may I add.
- I get to school at 10am, instead of 8:30am and I'm considered, "dedicated"
- Less students at school. Stress level=low.
- No after-school activities! No coaching basketball until 6pm! Leave @ 3:30pm!
- Get ride home, which is still nice and cozy.
* Also, I get to meet new people. As in the people I share the cab with and a random couple drove me to work today because they needed people to carpool with them! Guess it's okay to accept rides from strangers during strikes...
For some reason I expected mass chaos and a lot of people going nuts and running in the streets..but everyone's all cool and collected. Yup. We tough.

Werd...the strike is a pain. I've been "working from home" the past 2 days...I'm too lazy to try and come into the city. As much as we yell and curse at each other, New Yorkers will always band together in times of need. Think post 9/11 and also the Northeast Blackout 2 years ago. I remember I gave random people a ride during the blackout.

Remind me to tell you about the time some random asian lady opened my car door and sat in my car WHEN I WAS JUST WAITING AT A STOPLIGHT. ...and then asked me to drive her somewhere.

i am envious. i wanna live where i have to wait three days to take a taxi because all the transit workers are on strike. i wanna legally hitchike. here? in naples, florida?? nothing happens here. if i'm dodging traffic, it's not because of a high speed chase coming up behind me. i'm dodging traffic trying to get around the 200 year olds who still have drivers licenses yet can't see above the steering wheel.
i wanna be a tough nyc'er. hmmph.

even though we might have 5 lanes, it reallllly feels like 2-3 lanes especially during traffic. -_-
