  • So I'm on the train today rushing and I run into this chick, Shira, I used to work with.  Here's how the dialogue went:

    Shira: "Hey!!!  WHAT'S UP ALEX?"
    Me (Felix): " Heyy..what's up?"
Shira: "Not much, meet my boyrfriend, John.  John...Alex"
(at this point, I really didn't care that she got my name wrong I was getting off in 2 stops anyway and didn't really care that much to correct her)
Shira: "Alex was this really good rock climber I was telling you about..."

    2 Stops later.

Me: "Great well I'm sure I'll see you again..."
Shira: "Wait lemme get your number."
Me: "Ummm...okay" .  (Great, now she put me down as Alex)
    Shira: "Great.  I'll call you."
    Me: "Grrrreeat"

Ever happen to you?  I'm sure you have corrected people...but noooo not me.  Now I have to answer the phone to "Alex" when she calls.  The big thing is to avoid the people we know in common because then she really would look foolish...

Sheesh...Guess I shoulda corrected her in the beginning.  She was just so happy to see
me and acted like we were the best of buds. (which I don't think we were )
Maybe I'll just ignore her for the rest of my life....Yeah...That's the ticket.

    Peace out,

    Alex Shen

  • Well...its official...

    MY ANTS ARE DEAD

See any live ones?  Yea.  Me neither.  I give up. Sheesh...

    - In other news, watch my bro this Saturday at 9 on the Sci-Fi Channel.  Its his Sabretooth movie.  Unfortunately I can't watch it since I'll be in the Bahamas (Woo hoo! )...oh wait...Hurricane Dennis...(Wah!).  So someone record it for me (Hint: Mom) Thanks...I'll be back soon...

P.S.: On an amusing note:  I was cooking some corn the other day and it was taking forever to boil.  What the hell happened?
     ...(Hurry up will ya?)
Can you guess from the following pictures what happened

     .

    Once again...I'm a mess.

  • So school is finally over for me.  The last month was CRAZY

Here's my ant update:  Only 4 are living....

I'm pretty bummed.  I take care of them and and everything.  I don't overwater, underwater, overfeed, underfeed..but still.  I'm getting flashbacks of Tito and Puente (my dead goldfish, R.I.P.).

    - On a happier note, I have soo much time on my hand that I don't know what to do with myself.  Guess there will be a lot of going out, basketball, reading, biking, rollerblading and vacationing .  Maybe my Xanga will be back on point too....Ha Ha...

    Life could be worse...

June 27, 2005

  • One more day of school left!  Woo Hoo!  Can’t wait.   So about the end of April this year, one of my life long dreams was fulfilled.

I finally purchased an…ANT FARM!!  Man I was soo psyched.   For those who don’t know about ant farms, the ants don’t come in the package.  They arrive through the mail.  So I finally received them in the beginning of June.  They arrived…DEAD.  That’s right.  DEAD.  DEAD ON ARRIVAL.  DOA.  Whatever, you get the point.  Well, 2 were still alive out of 20!  At first I thought they were sleeping but....         (all the dead ants...)

So I ordered a new batch and I got them a few days ago.  About 18 survived the trip.  But they have now ruled my life.  In fact, I passed on my friend’s birthday party because I wanted to make sure I put my ants in their…Farm.   Here are some pics of
    their first day....

They first needed to be put in a fridge to calm them and then you place them in their farm (which includes putting in some sand and water).  And then you just watch them go.  They’re so fascinating!  Apparently there is an Undertaker Ant who takes all the dead ants and place them in a pile.  Which was true!  Then there are Slacker Ants who don’t work and just chill.  It takes a responsible ant to tap them on their head to get them to work…Fascinating.  Anyway, I ended up watching them for like 2 hours straight.
(1st time they entered the sandy terrain)
So...I just want to say that these little dudes are sooo smart.  They work together, build tunnels, store food, congregate, and are just really hard workers.  Check this pix out:
See the tunnels?  They did that all in one day!  See the upper half of the left hand side?  There was NO sand there orginally.  They carried all of it from the tunnels they made and carried it piece by piece to see if there was a way out...but to no avail.

If you look at the very top of the picture, in the center, that is where I open it up and give them water and food.  They have since tore the left side hill and are trying to gather and collect sand to even it out and escape through the center.  How smart!

    Ok.  I'm a loser.  I know.

  • Sorry y'all.  Only 4 days of school left and then I'll have my life back!

June 12, 2005

  • So things have been fun this week.  Just came back from VA Beach.  Left Saturday and came back Tuesday for the Senior Trip.  Negotiated so that we got paid about ~$250 for the weekend + the usual pay for Monday and Tuesday AND $100 spending money.  Man I love my job.  I would've done it for free.  Anyways, good times...Volleyball, football, beachpool, jacuzzi, water rides and roller coasters for 4 days.  Man my job is hard.  Here's what I looked out of my window everyday....

    Good times....

Speaking of looking outside of my window...the Puerto Rican Day Parade was this Sunday.  Here's how my hood looked on... Saturday!

It was worse than how it looks.  Guess that's what I get for living in Spanish Harlem.  Adios!

  • Last Thursday was fun.  The seniors had their Prom at Terrace on the Park

Since I never went to my H.S. prom, I always think these are a blast.  Last year we had it in the China Club because one of my kid's father owned the joint.  SuH-Weet!

We're supposed to "chaperone" and have no problem doing it...(as long as the OPEN BAR stays  O  P  E  N)
