Stop and smell the roses. Have you ever heard that before? Well, I literally did just that. I was on E. 57th and Park and was running to catch the light but stopped in the little intersection. For some reason I decided to stop.
And what did I find to the right of me? You can see for yourself. Why was I in a rush? So I decided to stop and enjoy the moment. Instead of taking the train to where I was going, I decided to walk and look around. A few weeks ago, I was walking slowly in the streets and this chick comes from behind and huffs" This is New York, you know, we walk faster." Man was I heated. So as she walked by, I noticed that
she has a UCLA bag. "Look who's telling me what to do in New York with your UCLA bag. Get some manners! What's your rush?" I responded. Trust me, she did not look like she was from NY and to tell a born and raised City boy about NY pushed my buttons. As she made a scowl and walked away, I have asked myself...What's MY rush? Am I that important that I need to walk briskly and get annoyed when "slow walkers" are in my way or is that just a NYC thing? Well, this day I decided to stop and smell the roses.
What I noticed were that there were many funny things to look at which I may have taken for granted. For example,
I watched in amusement at this couple trying to ride a 2 seater bike. They had such a hard time trying to get on. The girlfriend kept falling off and the boyfriend kept telling her it's alright while keeping a straight face. He was a
good sport because I was rolling on the floor. Ha Ha. In the end, they ended up WALKING the bike. It was funny. Or, when I decided to walk through Central Park instead of taking the streets. It's very interesting to walk thru the Park at around 3 pm on a weekday because for the most part, these are the people who probably don't work or have weird occupations. There I saw a lot of people "smelling the roses". I saw many individuals sitting on rocks by themselves and just thinking and watching. They each had their own favorite part of their park and THEY were the ones who got it. THEY took the time out for themselves. I already do that but I can always do more for myself. My recommendation to everyone reading this entry is to take your time and look at your surroundings. Look up from your newspaper, take off your headphones, get off your cellphone. There are many things that you are missing. Besides would you get to see stuff like this if you didn't?
[* I saw this random dude doing pushups in the street...Ha Ha]
Gotta bounce, 200 Freestyle is on...Phelps vs. Thorpedo...Oooo!
* Damn, Phelps got Bronze.

dang Phelps! thats not that bad, but ehhh... wow, smelling the roses... cool beans. i usually do that at the beach. today was a good day for me to do that while riding the horse on that beach. HAHAHA! and that bike... i think they have minds of their own... who's the one that's riding now!? hahaha! ok that might not make sense, but it did to me.
FLex, I'm proud of you...I think you get it now...the wandering around thing is just the next step.
haha...dammit, I get mad annoyed at people that walk slow in the city...drives me nuts! Even with my friends...can't stand it. Born & Raised NYC too man...speed is the way it is around here....everything is fast...."In A New York Minute"
Damn...Men's Gymnastics Team only got Silver. The Japanese Team was damn good tho...they earned it.
yeah... i know... i'm still going to be bold.
PrettyBoy (my gay guy friend who is absolutely fabulous!) told me that i'm really bold. when i mentioned that i have my shy moments, he says that i am not shy... i am only modest. there's a difference... hahahhaha... it made sense and i have to admit that he's right. i'm only modest... not really shy. if i seem meek, it's only because i'm keeping my trap shut. hahahha.. but once i open my mouth, i seem to be a bit cheeky... like a playful monkey. hahahahaha... yay!
but yeah - i'm only being a bit down and out.. i'm still probably going to make the first move when it comes to guys.. and i'm not aggressive... i'm assertive... there's a difference there. aggression implies violence or with the intention to cause pain... i wouldn't do that... i'm just being assertive... since i wouldn't want to scare the poor guy off.. especially when he's so friggin' shy. of course... if being aggressive is what catches the guy's attention, i guess i should whip out the handcuffs, black leather, and feather dusters. hahahaha.... *wink*
yeah... i've had those moments where i just stop and ask myself, "why am i panicking?? where am i headed to at such a break-neck pace?" diu... then i stop... relax, rest a while.. let my surroundings pentrate my consciousness... then i'm rushing back to work and hitting the city reality again. hahahahaha... oh well... small moments like that but i feel much refreshed after that. it also helps me keep my mood up and stress level low. *hugz*
can you still ask out those 6 girls???
by the way, what is cajones???
and do you have MSN?
PS1 was dope, just a little drizzle... did a lot of people watching. the cutest couple was dancing with their tiny baby girl on the dance floor. all them were super stylin. did you see the hole in the wooden floor board ? if you looked into the hole there was atiny woman screeming up at you. creeeped me out. ha. people are just so cute there. makes me want to step up my steelo...
i love people watching in this crazy ass city. i'm all for walking slowly in the city every so often... it's the only way to take things in. i heart the randomness of it all.
aww...I feel really bad about not rooting for Phelps, but c'mon...THORPEDO ALL THE WAY!!!...
and yes now I will get pelted with hate mail...haha
Ok, first of all...I apologize for that UCLA b*tch. Not all cali ppl are so stuck up and snotty like her.
what a crap@$$ repReZenTation of CaLi. *grumble* Second, that's pretty cool that you got to appreciate life's tranquility...all in the heart of NY!! hardcore, man..
flexinator- (tell the students to call you that. it's the cool thing to do.)
my little sister is 14. hahaha i must admit that i didn't know what a douche bag was either until this year... but it's just one of those things u can't explain to a sibling! i use it freely as a joking-insult cuz it sounds so funny. say it outloud, DO IT! makes me giggle every time!
don't smell the roses, because outkast told me it really smells like poo poo. do stop and smell the coffee outside a small cafe. mmmm.
what is NY like? in the movies, everyone is mean and devious... like Collin Farrell's character in Tollbooth... or payphone.. or whatever it was called. hahaha.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that guy wasn't doing push-ups! I think he just had a thang for that spot of concrete...
okay... maybe he was doing push-ups...
and (personal observation) New Yorkers do walk slow-- especially after the walk light has turned off.
ha, the nerve of some ppl!
it's nice to see that there are still ppl out there that aren't in a super rush. walking around and taking everything in is absolutely thee best. i use to do that, till i got stuck in east bubble fcuk~! but i'll be back soon, dont' be surprised if you see me "smelling the roses" i'll be the one pushing you into them!!
(j/k babe!)
Yo son, we are going to chill on the 21st. We can plan our ball game out.
See you soon man!
man my first time in NY which was only a few hour visit... some lady walked right into me as if I was just air... not once did she looked back or showed any signs of recognition that I was standing there or was. O_O
That will always be my memory of NY.. so I gotta go back and make a new one!!! Yeah!!!!!!!! I am so siked!!
speaking of noticing things, you know what's really cute? that little sunspot underneath your right eye; it's damn sexy. haha =p
move to cali. ppl walk slower there. when i was up at school in upstate NY, ppl always tryin to get around me when i was walking. then when i was kicking it with my friends from cali, we got even slower when we walked. hahah. i think its inherent in cali ppl. except that faux ucla girl u came across. she aint cali. she fake!
