September....Not necessarily my favorite month. I always get the yucky feeling of school about to start.
Weather changes...It even starts to smell like spiral notebooks, blackboards, Trapper Keepers, desks and chalk!
I guess for as long as I continue to work in the education biz, I will always feel this way. MY kids who I call the Class of 2004, (ha ha..no real kids yet) have begun their college experiences. What fun.
Already some have encountered a little bit of trouble but doesn't everybody? Besides the words of advice that I have already imparted to them when I with them during their H.S. school years, I hope they embrace these next 4 years. They were the best 4 years of MY life. I learned so much about myself and my close friends happen to be the ones I met in College. Without experimenting, trying new things, meeting new people, I feel I would not be as complete or in the search of being complete as I am now. Here's to MY kids and wishing them all the fun and knowledge that they can acquire in such a quick but life changing 4 years.
Love you all. [Sorry for the kids who I didn't have pictures of!]

awwww what a proud moment that must have been. i loved my counselor.... i bet you'rea cool one too!
That's really cool to see how close you are with your kids. Work doesn't get any better than that. Making awesome new friends that are also your students. I really respect that.
Nice pictures.... mad nice to shout us out like that.
aaaaah! yes GREs stank. actually now it's on the same scale as SATs, and they threw away that wretched reasoning/theory or whatever it was... but I still did junk the first time. Second time i did a lot better... when i saw my scores I started giggling with joy in the testing center. I think the people taking TOEFL next to me were annoyed with my giggles...
anyway i enjoy the students. well done.
I have huge admiration for you and what you do. It's not easy to be a educator. I look back at some of my educators with lots of fondness. I am sure your kids look back and will remember you too.
Spiral notebook - $1
Trapper keeper - $2
Mr. Shen - Priceless !!! =)
yes yes...i know what you mean....and i'm all up for callin the guy....but it's how the question is asked....
"Hey I know you live on the West Coast...and I live in the Midwest....but I like you a lot...and I don't know if you like me but...will you call me?"
(see...now that sounds like he doesn't want to spend money calling long distance and wants the girl to do it incase it doesn't work...it was on her tab)
when it should be more like....
"Hey We living faw faw away...i lika you an you lika meeh....here mah numba and you call if you lika getting to know me bettah...and may i paleeze having yours too? I lika to call you sometime...is that okay?"
(seeeee....i'd like that....maybe not in the fob language...but just lightening things up with humor...)
didn't mean to get too carried away with my last entry....
...nice to know there are still nice guys out there... *winks*
that is dope.
you have a cool job, but i dont think i can stand kids like you can. but im still considering psychology.
u r way too fresh
trapper keepers? lols. the last time i saw one in use was in the 80s. don't they call those looseleaf holders, binders, nowadays? = p hope you and your new kids have a great year =D
Thank you father.
thanks for the good words felix
Last year I interned at a school that had merged with another school because the cost of living had sent so many families moving into poorer neighborhoods, that 6 schools in Cambridge had to merge into 3. So half the faculty was from a school that served mostly upper middle class children and half was from a school that served a poorer class minority population of students. It would be generous to say that they "didn't get along". They could have really used a community building activity like that outward bound trip. That's really cool that you were able to do that.
Wow, that was needlessly long. I started off just wanted to let you know that there are links in my entry to articles that explain gmail and what ppl have been willing to do to get one. In fact, all over Xanga ppl are giving them away in exchange for a good joke or a short blurb describing why you deserve one. It's really funny to read some of their efforts. So just wave your mouse over the words and you'll find the links, sorry they weren't more conspicuous. Or if you'd like, just leave me your email and I'll send you an invite anyways.
Again, with the longwindedness...I need to learn to be more concise. LOLz Well, have a good school year!
Hey, what's with the blue tint on some of your pics?
G'luck with the new school year!!
